Will Claye

Two Florida coaches and one athlete have earned regional awards from the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Junior jumper Will Claye was named the men’s field athlete of the year in the South Region, while Mike Holloway was named the men’s head coach of the year and Dick Booth the men’s assistant coach of the year.

Claye enters this week’s NCAA Outdoor Championships as the top seed in the triple jump and the second seed in the long jump. He won both at the SEC Championships and was named the SEC Outdoor Men’s Field Athlete of the Year.

Holloway coached the Gators to a second-place finish at the SEC Championships as the Gators had five individual champions and qualified 17 slots for the NCAA championships.

Booth, the USTFCCCA National Men’s Indoor Assistant Coach of the Year this season, advanced three athletes to the NCAA meet. He coached Claye to his SEC finish, and Booth’s athletes scored 37 of 140 points at the SEC Championships.
