Florida senior right fielder Preston Tucker has been named one of 10 finalists for the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award, the school announced on Wednesday. Eligible athletes must be seniors at a Division I school have notable achievements in four areas – community, classroom, character and competition.
Tucker was a 16th-round pick in the 2011 MLB Draft but returned to Florida for his final season. He has helped No. 5 Florida to a 31-10 record by hitting .314 with a .597 slugging percentage, 95 total bases, 31 RBI, 11 doubles and 10 home runs this season.
Tucker became the school’s all-time RBI (239) and doubles (64) leader earlier this season. He is second in hits with 307 and third in home runs with 51.
Finalists were chosen from a list of 30 candidates by a media committee, and nationwide voting will help determine the winner. Fans can vote on the Lowe’s Senior CLASS Award website through June 11. Fan votes will be combined with media and Division I men’s head coaches’ votes to determine the winner.
The winner will be announced during the College World Series in June.
