Gators LB Neiron Ball says he’s cleared to play football

Florida linebacker Neiron Ball posted on Facebook on Thursday that he’s been cleared to play football, a year after he was hospitalized when a blood vessel burst in his brain.

The Gators’ redshirt sophomore did not play in 2011 because of the arteriovenous malformation (AVM) found in his brain in Februrary 2011. Ball had what his brother-in-law classified as a procedure in the spring but was not cleared for contact during the season.

Last month, Florida coach Will Muschamp said that Ball’s status for the 2012 had yet to be determined. Muschamp will not meet with the media again until March 13.
