Former Gators center Maurkice Pouncey is headed to the Super Bowl in his rookie season after Pittsburgh beat the New York Jets 24-19 in the AFC Championship on Sunday night. How much Pouncey will play in Super Bowl XLV remains to be seen after he left the game with an injury.

Pouncey, who was named to the Pro Bowl, left the game on the first series after rolling his left leg. He did not return.

It’s the Steelers’ third trip to the Super Bowl in the past six seasons.

The Gators have had a former player in the Super Bowl for nine consecutive years. At least one Gator has appeared in 28 of the 45 Super Bowls ever played. Thirteen former Gators have combined to win 19 Super Bowl rings.
