Former Florida forward Walter Pitchford V has transferred to Nebraska, the school announced this week. The Michigan native left after his freshman season in Gainesville to be closer to his ailing grandfather.
Pitchford played in 13 games last season, making 3-of-11 field goals and grabbing four rebounds.
A 6-foot-10, 221-pound forward, Pitchford will sit out this year per NCAA transfer rules and have three years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2013-14 season.
Florida added to its frontcourt since Pitchford’s departure with the addition of South Carolina transfer Damontre Harris.
